YOGA WITH CALLEY BLISS
There is power in shaking things up! On the other side of discomfort, fear, resistance, and doubt reside abundant bliss, creativity, and health. It only requires a willingness to explore uncharted territory.
Rooted in the teachings of the Buddhist practice of Vipassana, when we learn to release expectations and focus on progress we are rewarded with the freedom to live in resonance with our innate ability to create our own bliss.
Whether in the Integrate 1-to-1 program, Reset & Re-Energize Online course (inquire for your work team here!), or at monthly Full Moon Yoga events (Project Practice installment 4.0!), practicing yoga with Calley Bliss is about joining a creative community focused on facilitating sensory experiences using physical movement through yoga, mindfulness, music, art, poetry, and meaningful dialogue to experience enjoyable changes through a yoga practice. Participating in our physical “innovation” becomes an inspiration and a template for innovation in our lives. Consider yourself invited once you’re ready to make the trek.
ABOUT CALLEY Bliss - Professional Change agent
Never underestimate the value of a good faceplant.
I’m a Bloomington, Minnesota-based yogi, voice over artist, and vocalist with a knack for implementing the philosophy of yoga and its sister practices to our personal and working lives. I wake up thinking about how yoga philosophy can serve us in our lives, and I work to bring these lessons to creative and leader-minded groups and individuals.
Active from a young age, but never very coordinated, I found yoga at age 18 via a Rodney Yee video. The next year while studying jazz voice at The University of North Texas, a new rec center opened up with group fitness classes, and I experienced my first live yoga class. Yoga was a great way to get out my anxious energy and get in my workout. Plus who wouldn’t fall in love with the nap (aka corpse pose / savasana) at the end!?
A few years later, my health started to slip. As my performing career grew and I enjoyed increased professional success working as a freelance vocalist across Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas, and beyond US borders, so increased issues with my body image and relationship to food. I also developed acute respiratory allergies and auto-immune symptoms that worsened and slowly took over my life. During the next four years, yoga became my solace and saving grace.
I moved to New York in 2007, and had a front-row seat (ok, nosebleeds, but I was in the arena!) to the fluctuations of our financial system, the demise of the music industry, and the rise of social media. I hit an emotional, financial, and creative low in 2010. I stopped flirting with my yoga mat and made the commitment. I made a low-bar goal of getting on my mat for just ten minutes every day. After a few minutes of simple breathing, I usually wanted to move. After a few minutes of motion, I usually wanted more. After many more minutes of breathing and moving, I felt the breath of life return to my mind and body, and the creative ideas started to fly. I cut food and people from my life that didn’t feel supportive. I started meditating on my subway rides. Through a regular yoga practice, diet & lifestyle changes, and a mental-emotional-spiritual overhaul, I kicked my three daily medications and weekly immunotherapy shots to the curb for good after just three months, and haven’t looked back.
I’ve been practicing yoga for twenty-two years and love learning about the subtle nuances and connections between mind, body, breath, soul, spirit, and heart. This study and these practices have guided me through anxiety, depression, and general stress in addition to the symptoms and health issues listed above.
My career as a professional musician led me to Denton, TX, New York City, and Boise, ID. I currently keep my creative spirit and love of performing alive as a voice-over artist and produce content out of my home studio under a business I named Entertainment Jill, to represent the multifaceted wonder that it is to be a woman in the world of entertainment.
A lover by nature and a believer in the power of exploration, I guide my clients using breath, somatic motion, isometric awareness, and neurolinguistic programming practices in order to realize opportunities for progress, health, and happiness in our bodies and lives. The science of the mind is intrinsically connected to the state of the body. Learning, and re-patterning that state is a journey of exploring ourselves and our lives through physical practice.
Deep gratitude goes out to all of my teachers, and the “framily” I’ve made in all the places I’ve lived. Some of my experiences included big important teachers, musicians, thought leaders, and colleagues… some were humble workshops in one-room facilities or good conversations over cheap whiskey in a dive bar.
The lessons always showed up as they should.
